Beautiful wooden jewelry box circa 1810s, gifted in 1817.
Inside you will find two elegant pieces of paper pasted into the lid which indicate this piece was given as a gift by David Buxton to Eliza Buxton, perhaps his wife, in 1817.
There is a mirror set into the lid and two compartments inside the box. A section of the top compartment is removable to reveal the lower compartment.
Included is a key that still functions to lock the box.

Lovely condition overall with some minor age-related wear. A few nicks in the wood, surface wear, etc. However the condition is remarkable for its age and it functions well and can definitely still be used! The key works as well. I have conditioned the wood to help preserve it.
