Chatoyancy, or cat's eye effect, is an optical reflectance effect seen in certain gemstones, such as tiger’s eye.

The term comes from the French "œil de chat", which literally translates as "cat's eye.” The fibrous structure of tiger’s eye is what causes this beautiful effect when it catches the light.

Tiger’s eye cameo rings were very popular in the late 19th century and into the early 20th century. This piece has a beautiful forget me not flower on each side.

It is rare to find one like this in 18k gold! Marked 18k inside the band and tested.
