Beautiful, large kilt pin pendant conversion in the shape of a thistle, circa mid-19th century.
Originally a brooch/pin, a bail has been added and the pin removed so it can be worn as a pendant.
Topped with an amethyst paste stone (glass) and beautifully adorned with intricate designs. There is some kind of engraving and a hallmark close to the stone, but I have not been able to make them out.
During the Victorian era, Scottish jewelry became very widely popular due to Queen Victoria's love of all things Scottish.
Unmarked but tests as sterling silver.
Chain shown in final photo is not included in this listing (but it is listed separately on the site)
