This gorgeous tortoise shell locket dates from the latter half of the 19th century, c. 1860s-1880s.
It features a fabulous, detailed crown, topped with a cross, and the letter P. The locket opens from the left side. Inside is a glass fronted, gold framed space for a photo, lock of hair, or other memento.
Absolutely the best example of a shell locket that I've ever come across, it is sturdy, polished to a shine, and has beautiful details. This is a unique, one of a kind piece.

Lovely condition overall with some minor age-related wear. It snaps shut securely. There is one small imperfection or chip on the edge close to the notch where it opens.
