Stunning brooch circa turn of the century, 1890s to 1900s, in 14k gold over sterling silver set with graduated seed pearls.
Symbolism was highly desirable in Victorian jewelry, and the crescent moon is one of my favorites! It symbolizes feminine beauty and power, and was often given as a wedding or honeymoon gift. Combined with a shamrock for good luck, this piece was a beautiful gesture.
Unmarked but tested as 14k gold over sterling silver. Safety chain is 9k gold.
