This oversized faux tortoise shell locket is such a fun piece! Circa 1890s, it is a made of celluloid--and early, plant-based plastic--and comes on a long, chunky chain.
The locket slides open rather than having a hinge that opens on one side like a more typical locket. It includes two photographs that have been pasted inside.

Lovely condition overall with some minor age-related wear.
Some crazing in the celluloid links, as shown in the photos. It seems sturdy, however I recommend handling and wearing with some care.
