An exquisite Edwardian peach gown that sadly has some condition issues, but is a fabulous piece nonetheless.

The lovely peach fabric is very soft, and feels like some kind of felt, though I am not sure the fiber content.

The bodice is boned with Warren Featherbone. From the Wikipedia article on the company:

As a dry goods proprietor, [Edward K. Warren] was familiar with complaints about the fragility of the then-common whalebone stays used in women's dresses. He also frequented the Chicago Feather Duster Company to purchase goods. It was there that he found out that the company disposed of turkey wing feathers as being too stiff to use in a feather duster. Warren eventually realized that stiff feather quills might make a suitable replacement for whalebone stays, and after some experimentation perfected a product which he christened the "featherbone." He opened the Warren Featherbone Company in 1883 to manufacture his new stays, and the product was an immediate success.

There is a waistband inside the bodice with a faded maker label that I cannot read.

It is a very beautiful set in such a lovely peach color.

+++ Measurements +++

Bodice:

  • 24" waist
  • 33" bust

Skirt:

  • 22" waist
  • 43.5" front length
  • 53" back length

+++ Condition +++

Overall fair to poor condition. The lining of the bodice has been mostly removed and the boning is loose. The closures down the back seem to be all present, but they are coming loose due to the missing lining.

There are several moth holes throughout both the bodice and the skirt. The skirt has a tear on the back below the closures. There are some stains also, as shown.

In its current condition, this is not a wearable piece, although the fabric is sturdy and strong. It would be a wonderful display or study piece.
